What subjects are on the Charles University medical school entrance exam, and how hard is it compared to the MCAT?
I'm a pre-med student in the US considering applying to LF3 at Charles University. I've been studying for the MCAT but I'm wondering - what's actually on the Czech entrance exam? Is it harder or easier than the MCAT? How should I prepare?
So the exam is biology and chemistry only - no physics, no math, just those two. Multiple-choice format. The level is roughly what you'd see at the end of a solid high school science track, maybe a bit above.
Honestly, it's hard to compare it directly to the MCAT. They're just different beasts. The MCAT throws passages at you with critical thinking, psych, sociology - it's designed to mess with your head even if you know the science. The Czech exam is way more straightforward - if you know the material, you'll get it right. Less mind games, more "do you actually know this stuff."
That said, don't sleep on it. The bio goes pretty deep - genetics, molecular bio, physiology, ecology. Chemistry covers general, organic, and some biochemistry. It's not something you can wing.
If you've been doing MCAT prep, you're honestly in a great spot already. Just make sure you brush up on topics the MCAT doesn't really cover, like taxonomy or detailed ecology. And get used to the format - it's different from what you're used to.
